  Accounting Manager
   The Accounting Manager will be responsible for managing the general accounting function. The Accounting Manager is responsible and accountable for the development, administration and evaluation of general accounting systems for the organization.  This includes timely and accurate reporting of financial operating results, and leadership in the development, interpretation and use of sound accounting polices and internal controls to adequately maintain financial stability. The Accounting Manager also oversees the completion of ledger accounts and financial statements ensures accuracy of financial data by reviewing financial statements and reconciliations prepared by the Accounting staff, familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures, performs a variety of tasks, conducts performance reviews and addresses personnel management issues, coordinates and establishes accounting deadlines for all departments, prepares various reports for management, special project work, as needed & Staff development.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:


Bachelor's degree in accounting, minimum of five years of financial accounting or auditing experience. Must be a self starter, energetic, pleasant personality, good people skills, hard working, able to work 40-50 hours per week, excellent attendance record, non smoker and be a driving force in company financial planning. Strong analytical skills. Must have an understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Excellent oral and written skills. Must be proficient with computer spreadsheets (Excel). A working knowledge and understanding of computerized construction accounting packages is critical along with sound computer and strong multi-tasking skills. JOB DESCRIPTION:

 
Maintain general ledger and job cost reports for all construction jobs. Prepare variance analysis.  Prepare monthly financial statements, month end, review payables and payroll reporting. Additional tasks include daily cash management, WC insurance reporting, Contract Administration and monitoring of company's financial activities. Also responsible for management of the owner's commercial rental business and maintaining books and records on Quicken.
 
MAJOR DUTIES:
    • Responsible for reviewing general ledger activity on a monthly and quarterly basis to ensure adherence to GAAP accounting.
    • Supervise general accounting group and encourage staff efforts in the area of process improvements and quality of accounting information.
    • Generate and review monthly financial statements and all supporting documents including journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
    • Manage and coordinate the annual audit process with external auditors including the preparation of financial statements and audit schedules.
    • Prepare and monitor the organization budget and manage funds to ensure sufficient cash flow.
    • Participate in the development and completion of special projects and ad hoc requests.
    • Under the direction of the President, manage the organization investments.
    • Payroll and quarterly reports.
    • Bank Reconciliations.
    • Request Purchase and Payment bonds.
    • Monthly Builders Risk reports.
    • Bank Deposits.
    • Prepare annual budget and maintain progress.
    • Maintain Percent Complete Report.
    • Journal Entries.
    • Labor Burden report.
    • Workers Comp and General Liability audits.
    • Update Employee Manual.
    • Cash flow projections.
    • Maintain 401K plan.
    • Online payroll tax deposits and 401K deposits.
    • Maintain Gross Margins Report.
    • Petty Cash Reconciliation.
    • OSHA safety issues.
    • Maintain vacation and sick leave spreadsheet.
    • Prepare pre-qualification packages for new bids.
    • Knowledge of human resources issues.
    • Must have excellent Excel skills.
    • Must have knowledge of MS Word, MS Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat
    • Familiarity with Photoshop and Powerpoint a plus
